Many of us are confused at this time. Many of us are exhibiting fear, anxiety and maybe even depression as we self isolate to stop this pandemic from spreading further into our population and ultimately impacting those most fragile and over running our health care system. This is not a time to stop our self care routines, we must realize that now more than ever they are important to our safety and sanity. There are many things that you can still do that do not require socializing outside of your home. Things that can bring you moments of joy if you allow them into your life. Only you can make the decision to live in joy or live in fear. I have posted some suggestions on my instagram page but here are some things you can do to make this time a bit less scary.
1. Make healthy food choices as best as you can. Do not take this time to have a free for all with food. Your body and your immune system will thank you. Eat your fruits, veggies (there are plenty of those in the market last I looked) quality protein and healthy fats. I have aligned with an amazing company if you have any needs in this area.
2. Get outside and move your body, there are tons of things you can do that do not require going to the gym. Go for a walk, go for a hike, find a great on demand workout, or DANCE in your kitchen. Dancing and music always lighten my mood!
3. Drink your water, at least half your body weight.
4. Read more, watch less TV or social media
5. Meditate! Tell your nervous system that you are okay.
6. Take time to savor the amazing things that happen during your day rather than rushing through it. Your life if filled with special moments that regular daily life doesn't make time for us to enjoy. Find moments to be grateful for throughout your day.
7. Be in the moment. When you live in the moment instead of the past or the future you are more in control of your thoughts.
8. Enjoy time with your loved ones in your home because you CAN.
9. Laugh! Find something to laugh at because laughter is the best medicine, truly.
10. BREATH! Take deep breaths throughout your day to find grounding. I practice rescue breathing when I find myself in a state of anxiety. In for four, hold for four, out for four, hold for four.
I am here if anyone needs to talk!
